π¨ $10,000 REWARD REESTABLISHED IN 2022 MURDER OF 19-YEAR-OLD JACOB MATTHEW TAYLOR IN PALMDALE
PALMDALE, CA β The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a motion to reestablish a $10,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of those responsible for the 2022 murder of 19-year-old Jacob Matthew Taylor at Marie Kerr Park in Palmdale.
On October 20, 2026, the Board of Supervisors approved the motion introduced by Supervisor Kathryn Barger, renewing efforts to generate leads in the nearly four-year-old unsolved homicide investigation.
DETAILS OF THE SHOOTING
On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at approximately 12:46 a.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Palmdale Station responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired at Marie Kerr Park, located in the 39900 block of 30th Street West.
Arriving deputies located 19-year-old Jacob Matthew Taylor unresponsive in the parking lot, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Taylor was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Two additional victims, both women in their late teens, were also struck by gunfire. They were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to homicide investigators, a group of individuals had gathered in the park's west parking lot after hours when a fight broke out. The altercation was quickly broken up.
Approximately 10 minutes later, unknown suspects drove into the parking lot in a pickup truck and began shooting at the crowd.
Taylor was fatally wounded during the shooting.
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPROVES REWARD
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors originally approved a $10,000 reward on September 12, 2023. However, that reward expired on December 12, 2023, without the case being solved.
On October 20, 2026, Supervisor Kathryn Barger introduced a motion to reestablish the $10,000 reward, which was approved by the Board.
The renewed reward is intended to encourage witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and assist investigators in identifying those responsible.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau investigators remain hopeful that reinstating the reward will generate new leads and help bring justice and closure to Taylor's family.
Jacob Matthew Taylor is survived by his mother, father, siblings, and grandparents.
