A Kern County jury found Scottie Chambers guilty of the crime committed against his girlfriend's father. The jury convicted Chambers of felony criminal threats, as well as simple assault and brandishing a weapon. The court also found true that the Defendant has a serious felony strike prior conviction, making this a second-strike case. The case was prosecuted by Deputy DA Wooyoung Kim.
On the morning of June 29, 2025, Chambers and his girlfriend were involved in an argument outside of the victim’s Oildale home. The victim, the girlfriend’s father, intervened during the argument when he witnessed Chambers push his daughter. When the victim approached to assist his daughter, Chambers brandished and pointed a folding knife at the victim and told him, “I’ll cut your throat. I’ll cut your wife’s throat.” Chambers then walked back to the rear of the victim’s vehicle and stabbed the rear driver’s side tire with his knife. Chambers then walked southbound down the driveway, away from the victim’s location. When the victim walked up to his car tire to inspect the damage, Chambers suddenly turned around and threw an approximately ten-pound nine-inch-long flashlight at the victim.
DA Zimmer commented; “Chambers resorted to unnecessary violence that warrant legal consequences. Given Chambers’ criminal history, he faces an enhanced prison sentence which supports the severity of his offense and his past record.”
Sentencing is set for November 12, 2025. As a second-strike offender, Chambers faces an elevated sentence of up to 11 years in prison.
