California Highway Patrol Antelope Valley Investigates Fatal Traffic Crash

On October 31, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Antelope Valley Area responded to a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash on Avenue D at 70th Street West.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2002 Ford, driven by J. Karwowski, 66, of Palmdale, was traveling northbound on 70th Street West, approaching Avenue D. A 2021 Peterbilt, driven by F. Sanchez, 24, of Riverside, was traveling eastbound on Avenue D, approaching 70th Street West. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Ford entered the intersection directly into the path of the Peterbilt, resulting in a collision. As a result of the crash, Ms. Karwowski sustained fatal injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for approximately two hours while officers conducted on-scene investigation. Both drivers were determined to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision. Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered factors in this traffic crash.
