Officers recently contacted a driver who was traveling solo in an active carpool (HOV) lane while smoking marijuana, creating a dangerous situation for everyone on the roadway.

🚗 Carpool Lane Law Reminder: The California Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decal program ended on September 30, 2025. This means solo drivers — including those in previously qualifying low-emission vehicles — are no longer permitted to use HOV lanes during posted hours unless they meet the occupancy requirement. Drivers who violate HOV lane rules may be subject to citation.
