๐จ Carpool Lane Enforcement & DUI Safety Reminder ๐จ from CHP - Antelope Valley
Officers recently contacted a driver who was traveling solo in an active carpool (HOV) lane while smoking marijuana, creating a dangerous situation for everyone on the roadway.
๐ Carpool Lane Law Reminder:
The California Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) decal program ended on September 30, 2025. This means solo drivers โ including those in previously qualifying low-emission vehicles โ are no longer permitted to use HOV lanes during posted hours unless they meet the occupancy requirement. Drivers who violate HOV lane rules may be subject to citation.
๐ฟ Impaired Driving Reminder:
Although marijuana is legal in the State of California, it is illegal to drive while under the influence of marijuana. Impairment can slow reaction time, affect judgment, and significantly increase the risk of a crash.
โ ๏ธ Driving under the influence of marijuana is dangerous and can result in arrest for DUI.
Make responsible choices behind the wheel:
โ๏ธ Follow posted HOV lane occupancy requirements
โ๏ธ Never drive impaired
โ๏ธ Plan ahead for a safe ride home
Stay alert. Stay compliant. Arrive alive. ๐
