馃毃Critical Incident Notification-Structure Fire 馃毃
On March 21, 2026, at approximately 1:54 PM, the Ridgecrest Police Department received reports of a fire in the 1300 block of North Downs. Callers also reported downed power lines in the roadway and a single explosion in the area.
RPD officers responded immediately, alongside Kern County Fire Department, China Lake Fire Department, and Liberty Ambulance.
Due to high winds, the fire spread rapidly and threatened multiple structures. As a result, two residences sustained significant damage, and several nearby properties experienced minor damage to backyard areas. At this time, no injuries have been reported.
Residents in the immediate area should be aware that power outages are impacting the neighborhood. Southern California Edison personnel have advised that power restoration may take at least 24 hours.
Please avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to continue working safely. Updates will be provided as they become available.
