Family Member Arrested in Victorville Double Homicide; Two Women Killed, One Man Hospitalized

DATE: February 20, 2026, at 8:58 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC 187 – Murder / PC 664-187

LOCATION: 13000 Block of Sundown Rd., Victorville

SUSPECT(S): Sydney Smith, 45-years-old, Resident of Victorville

VICTIM(S): Ayanna Smith, 48-years-old, Resident of Cerritos Annaya Scott, 26-years-old, Resident of Cerritos Adult male, 28-years-old, Resident of Redlands

SUMMARY:

On Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 8:58 p.m., Victorville Station deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on the 13000 block of Sundown Road, in Victorville. It was also reported multiple people were shot at the location. Deputies arrived and located Ayanna Smith, Annaya Scott, and an adult male with gunshot injuries.

All three victims were transported to local hospitals, where Ayanna Smith and Annaya Scott were pronounced deceased. The third victim remains hospitalized.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. Through investigation, detectives identified a family member of the victims, Sydney Smith, as the suspect in the murders of Ayanna Smith and Annaya Scott, as well as the attempted murder of the adult male. Smith was arrested and transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where he remains in custody without bail.
