**PALMDALE, CA —** The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision involving a black Ford Explorer and a bulldozer near Sierra Highway and Avenue S on Wednesday evening, October 21, 2026.
According to CHP incident logs, the collision was first reported at approximately **6:40 p.m.** Emergency units arrived on scene around 6:52 p.m.
At approximately 7:49 p.m., CHP requested a hard closure of Sierra Highway at Avenue S while authorities investigated the collision.
The roadway closure was lifted at approximately 10:16 p.m.
At **10:49 p.m.**, CHP officially updated the incident classification from a traffic collision with unknown injuries to a fatality.
The identity of the deceased and circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been released.
