Suspect Arrested for being felon in possession of loaded firearm and drugs/ paraphernalia

(H&S) 11370.1(a) – Possession of controlled substance while armed with loaded firearm
(PC) 25850(c)(2) – Carry stolen loaded firearm
(PC) 29800(a)(1) – Felon in possession of firearm
(PC) 30305(a)(1) – Felon in possession of ammunition
(H&S) 11377(a) – Possession of controlled substance
(H&S) 11364 – Possession of paraphernalia
SUMMARY OF CASE:
On July 7, 2026, at approximately 3:35 AM, Corporal Cushman conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of W. Church Ave. for traffic related violations. Corporal Cushman contacted the driver, Braydon Cane, and sole occupant of the vehicle. Corporal Cushman determined Cane was on probation and must submit to a search as part of his conditions.
Corporal Cushman conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded Sig Sauer P365 handgun in the center console. A records check revealed the firearm had been stolen from a vehicle in the City of Ridgecrest in March of 2025. A glass methamphetamine bong and suspected methamphetamine was located in the vehicle as well. Cane is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition.
