Yesterday’s Hazel Fire was stopped at 66 acres after burning in light to medium fuels west of Lancaster. Fire activity threatened nearby properties and at least one structure was damaged/destroyed during the incident.
Firefighters were able to stop forward progress during the afternoon and remained in the area afterward for mop-up and hot spot monitoring.
The fire burned in the 70th Street West / Avenue J area, with smoke visible across much of the Antelope Valley during the initial attack.
