HUMAN REMAINS FOUND DURING MISSING PERSONS INVESTIGATION IN LANCASTER
LANCASTER — Human remains were discovered Tuesday morning at a remote Lancaster property as Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives followed up on information connected to a missing persons investigation.
Investigators responded to a property near 50th Street East and Avenue F, where cadaver dogs assisted in the search. Human remains were reportedly found buried on the property.
LASD Lt. Chris Oakley said investigators are now treating the case as a homicide investigation. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office will recover the remains and work to determine a positive identification.
Authorities have not released the identity of the missing person connected to the investigation. Detectives said it is also possible the property could contain the remains of more than one person.
A large law enforcement presence was seen at the property Tuesday, including members of the LASD Homicide Bureau. Investigators were observed digging around the property, which contained several dilapidated structures.
Detectives also searched a second location in the 43000 block of Blooming Park Street in Lancaster in connection with the investigation.
No arrests have been made, and investigators have not identified any suspects at this time.
