LANCASTER — One person was found dead Tuesday afternoon at the scene of a vegetation fire in Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The fire, identified as the Emily Fire, was first reported around 12:30 p.m. near West Avenue E and Sierra Highway.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded and worked the vegetation fire, which ultimately burned approximately 4 acres. Officials advised that forward progress has been stopped.

Authorities confirmed one person was located deceased at the scene. At this time, it remains unclear whether the death is connected to the fire or what caused the vegetation fire to start.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is investigating. No additional information has been released.

UPDATE: Despite initial reports from mainstream media, authorities have confirmed that no body was found at the scene of the Emily Fire in Lancaster
