Large-Scale Meth Lab Arrest
Search warrants result in the seizure of approximately 55 lbs of methamphetamine, approximately 100 gallons of methamphetamine in solution, 5 firearms, 1,499 marijuana plants being eradicated, the dismantlement of a methamphetamine conversion lab in a rural farm area West of Delano and the arrest of one suspect.
On February 11, 2026, the KCSO, Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (KC-HIDTA) was assisted by Wardens from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, (Cannabis Enforcement Program) and Officers from the California Highway Patrol (Central K-9) unit in the arrest of Kevin Zavala-Rivera and the execution of the search warrant at the property he was found to be maintaining for the purpose of concealing a clandestine methamphetamine conversion lab.
In September 2025, KC-HIDTA and the Department of Justice, High Impact Investigation Team (HIIT) executed search warrants at a residence and clandestine methamphetamine conversion lab in the 16000 and 19000 blk of W. Jensen Avenue, Kerman. 252.2 pounds of methamphetamine, an additional 100 gallons of methamphetamine in solution, 14 firearms, a large amount of U.S currency were seized and the conversion lab at the residential farm home was dismantled along with 2 suspects being arrested. Kevin Zalvala-Rivera was able to flee the lab prior to the execution of the search warrant and a warrant for his arrest was obtained. The investigation continued into Kevin Zalvala-Rivera鈥檚 whereabouts and criminal activity, which led KC-HIDTA detectives to locating and dismantling an additional methamphetamine conversion lab.
KC-HIDTA lab personnel along with personnel from Kern County Environmental Health accessed the property with respect to the dangerous chemicals/ hazards present at the conversion lab.
Kevin Zavala-Rivera, age 22, from Sinaloa, MX was booked into the KCSO, Lerdo Justice Facility for the following charges: manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales, maintaining a residence/place for drug sales, along with his active warrant for the same charges resulting from the Kerman Lab investigation.
