The voter registration process for inmates incarcerated in Los Angeles County Jail began on September 2 with coordination between the Norwalk Registrar’s Office to develop voting posters, flyers, and obtain voter registration forms. On September 17–18, informational materials were picked up and distributed to Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF), North County Correctional Facility (NCCF), Men’s Central Jail (MCJ), and Twin Towers Correctional Facility (TTCF) kitchens to be included in inmate meal deliveries and shared throughout the facilities.
From September 22–25, voter registration efforts were conducted across multiple floors at MCJ, as well as through registration forms received from the North Facility. All completed registration forms were delivered to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) on September 25 for processing.
Beginning October 26, 2026, in-person voting booths were established at MCJ, CRDF, and NCCF on designated days, with voting personnel provided by the Los Angeles County Registrar’s Office. Community Transition Unit (CTU) staff coordinated and escorted registrar personnel throughout the facilities to facilitate inmate access to the voting booths and allow eligible inmates to cast their ballots. During this period, mail-in ballots were also collected to ensure inmates had the opportunity to participate in the election through both in-person and mail-in voting options.
