🚨 NEWS ALERT 🚨 Grapevine Area – Major Freeway Closures A large gas line rupture has been reported in the mountains three miles north of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic. Officials say the rupture sent large boulders onto the freeway, creating extremely dangerous conditions and prompting immediate closures.

•Southbound I-5 is closed at Highway 138 •Northbound I-5 is closed at Highway 126

California Highway Patrol advises that these closures may be pushed farther back as more information is gathered.

The fire department has issued a shelter-in-place order for residents in the immediate area due to hazardous conditions.

Motorists are urged to avoid the Grapevine, use alternate routes, and follow instructions from emergency personnel. Updates will be provided as they become available.

UPDATE: all lanes open as of 9pm
