Six arrested for Possession of Nitrous Oxide
Four adults and two juveniles, were arrested early Sunday morning for possession of nitrous oxide. Just after midnight, SCV Sheriff鈥檚 deputies conducting a patrol check in the 22300 block of Needham Ranch Parkway observed several people inside a parked vehicle. Due to the late hour and efforts to proactively protect nearby businesses from potential burglaries, deputies stopped to make contact with the occupants.
Upon contact, deputies found six males inside the vehicle. Three of the males were 18 years old, one was 20 years old, and two were 16 years old. Deputies observed a large nitrous oxide tank inside the vehicle along with numerous balloons scattered throughout.
Deputies determined the individuals were using the tank to fill the balloons and inhale the gas. All six occupants were arrested on misdemeanor charges related to possession of nitrous oxide.
The four adult suspects were from Sylmar, Palmdale, Newhall, and Canyon Country. The two juveniles were from Newhall and Canyon Country.
Nitrous oxide can seriously harm teens, sometimes permanently. This is a reminder for parents to check in with your teens, have open conversations, and know who they're spending time with. Let's work together to keep them safe!
