Suspect Arrested After CHP Pursuit From Mojave Into Antelope Valley Ends in Crash on SR-14
A pursuit initiated by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in the Mojave area made its way into the Antelope Valley this evening, ending in a crash and foot pursuit in Lancaster.
According to initial reports, CHP Mojave units began pursuing a black Ford Mustang that was traveling toward the Antelope Valley. The pursuit was later taken over by CHP Antelope Valley units as it continued into west Lancaster.
The suspect vehicle reportedly drove through surface streets in west Lancaster before entering the northbound State Route 14 at Avenue L. While traveling northbound near Avenue H, the driver allegedly drove along the right shoulder before crashing.
During the collision, the Mustang struck two additional vehicles. The condition of those involved in the other vehicles has not yet been released.
Following the crash, the suspect fled on foot along Avenue H, prompting a brief foot pursuit. CHP officers located and detained the suspect in a drainage ditch near 25th Street West, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
