Taft and Rural Crimes- Search Warrant Resulting in Arrest and Recovery of Stolen Items

On October 30,2025, Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies assigned to the Taft Substation with assistance from members of the Rural Crimes Investigation Unit (RCIU) served a search warrant in the 300 block of Tyler Street where a controlled substance, approximately 50lbs of stolen copper wire, and over 15 EBT cards were seized resulting in one arrest. Melissa Rodriguez, age 39, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, and obtaining public aid through false statements or misrepresentation. Rodriguez was booked into the Lerdo jail.
