Today, January 17th, marks the 32nd anniversary of the Northridge earthquake. The magnitude 6.7 quake destroyed or damaged thousands of homes, apartments and businesses, toppled freeway interchanges and severely damaged hospitals and parking structures. The quake resulted in 57 deaths and over 8,700 injuries. The economic impact to the region was estimated to be up to $40 billion making it one of the most costly natural disasters in our nation’s history.
