Tow Truck Thefts Suspect Identified and Arrested and May be Linked to Other Thefts Outside of San Bernardino County

DATE/TIME: Thursday, January 22, 2026

INCIDENT: White Tow Truck Related Stolen Vehicles

LOCATION: 900 Block of Ellen Street, Colton, CA

SUSPECT(S): Andy Joel Bonilla, 30-years-old, Resident of Colton

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: In recent months, there have been a large number of vehicle thefts within San Bernardino County involving the use of a white tow truck. San Bernardino County Sheriff's detectives from various stations colloborated and developed leads in the case. Andy Joel Bonilla was identified as a suspect in the case. Detectives believe there are other unknown suspects who conspired with Bonilla to commit the thefts.

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, investigators from the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT), and investigators from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department served a search warrant at a residence in Colton, CA. Bonilla was arrested at the scene without incident. After the arrest, a large number of stolen vehicles and components were located.

Investigators also found evidence of vehicle thefts outside of San Bernardino County linked to Bonilla and are asking anyone with information related to this case or who may have been victimized by Bonilla to contact Detective B.
