UPDATE: launch slated for 8:08pm Friday, August 29th. Look to the western skies. This timing has the potential for some great views.

Vandenberg Space Force Base Guardians and Airmen are scheduled to support the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying 24 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit today, Friday, August 29, between 7:05 - 11:05 p.m. from Space Launch Complex 4 East.

This launch supports Department of Defense communications through advanced low Earth orbit technology. VSFB’s analysis indicates there will be no sonic boom heard over populated areas.

Areas local to Vandenberg Space Force Base will hear the initial low rumble of take-off.

Vandenberg SFB continues to provide safe and reliable access to space in support of national security and Homeland defense.

Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship, which will be stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
